At Savolinna, every jewel is crafted from solid 18k gold and set with natural diamonds and natural gemstones. Each piece reflects uncompromising craftsmanship, designed to be treasured for a lifetime and beyond. To ensure your jewel retains its brilliance, please follow the guidelines below.

Gold Jewelry

• Solid 18k Gold: All Savolinna jewelry is produced exclusively in 18k gold—white, yellow, or rose—for enduring value and beauty.
• Rhodium Finish: Our 18k white gold pieces are crafted from solid 18k gold and coated with a layer of rhodium, a rare precious metal that enhances their bright, mirror-white appearance. As this is a surface treatment, the rhodium may naturally fade over time, particularly with exposure to chemicals or daily wear. When desired, the coating can be fully restored, and our after-sales team will be delighted to assist with professional re-plating.
• Care: To avoid scratches, store jewelry separately in its box or pouch. Keep away from perfumes, lotions, cleaning products, and other harsh chemicals that can damage the metal or alter its color.

Diamonds

• Natural & Certified: All diamonds used by Savolinna are natural. Single stones above 1 Carat are accompanied by a certificate from a leading gemological laboratory (e.g., GIA, HRD, IGI).
• Durability: Diamonds score 10 on the Mohs scale, making them the hardest natural material. However, they can still chip or fracture if struck with force, so handle with care.
• Cleaning: For home care, use lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap. Gently clean with a soft brush, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a lint-free cloth.

Emeralds

Emeralds are admired for their rich green color and rarity but require gentle care.

• Hardness: 7.5–8 on the Mohs scale, but often contain natural inclusions and fractures that make them more delicate than sapphires or rubies.
• Sensitivity: Heat, chemicals, and even prolonged light can damage or alter their clarity. Most emeralds are fracture-filled with oils or resins, which can be affected by improper cleaning.
• Care: Avoid ultrasonic or steam cleaning, as vibrations and heat may cause damage. Professional cleaning is strongly recommended.

Sapphires & Rubies

Belonging to the corundum family, these gems are known for their exceptional durability.

• Hardness: 9 on the Mohs scale, with excellent toughness and no cleavage—making them ideal for daily wear.
• Cleaning: Warm soapy water is always safe. Ultrasonic and steam cleaning may be used for untreated or heat-treated stones, but avoid these methods for fracture-filled or dyed material. A soft cloth is recommended for routine care.

Other Gemstones

• Porous Stones: Pearls, turquoise, opals, and amber are particularly sensitive. These gems can absorb oils, perfumes, and lotions, leading to stains or dullness.
• Care: Avoid contact with cosmetics and household chemicals. Clean only with a soft, damp cloth and store separately from harder gemstones to prevent scratching.

Certificates & Authenticity

• Hallmarked Gold: Each jewel is stamped to confirm it is solid 18k gold.
• Diamond Certification: Diamonds above 1 Carat are accompanied by certificates from leading international laboratories (GIA, HRD, IGI).
• Gemstone Reports: Colored gemstones may also be accompanied by authenticity reports when relevant.
• Savolinna Certificate: Every piece is delivered with an official Savolinna Certificate of Authenticity, guaranteeing the purity of materials and natural origin of stones.
